Dr.Alan Balsam, a physician who specializes in endocrinology, is a thyroid grand master. His thyroid research work is world-renowned. His mentors have also included other thyroid grand masters. He was educated at Yeshiva University and then at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University.
He did residencies in internal medicine and then in endocrinology at Montefiore Hospital in the Bronx, New York under the tutelage of the late Jack H. Oppenheimer, M.D.
He served in the United States Air Force in thyroid research at the Aerospace School of Medicine in San Antonio, Texas. He did thyroid research and served on the faculty at Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas and then at Harvard Medical School with his principal mentor and academic research collaborator, the late Sidney H. Ingbar, M.D.
His endocrine practice has been located in Deerfield Beach, Florida for approximately twenty years, and he has served on the medical staffs of the main hospitals in Broward and Palm Beach counties in South Florida.
